In the early morning of July 23 in one of the largest parks in the South of Russia "Green Island" fair tents were installed. Celebrations in honor of the Day of the Flag of Abkhazia and the Day of Culture of the Abaza people began.

The program was bright and saturated. So, within the framework of the festive fair there was an exhibition of historical flags. Guests and residents of the city were also presented with a puppet show and introduced to the Abkhaz-Abaza culture through photographs.

Participants and guests of the festival were able to buy paintings of local artists and, of course, try national cuisine, buy memory souvenirs.

A lot of people are preparing for the fair the whole year. For example, Kishif Aysanov, who handles self-made caskets to the participants of the festival for free. This master, it should be noted, is already 88 years old, but he is not going to stop doing his favorite thing, which makes him happy.
"Not far from our house there is a furniture workshop, I take away the material from them, out of which I then make caskets. In my collection there is not a single similar box - neither by drawing nor by size," Aisanov said.

Especially popular among guests and participants of the festival was the competition of national costumes.

"Every year we sew national costumes for our grandchildren. For us, and, especially, for them, this is a great joy. It's very beautiful, when so many people around walk in elegant national costumes," one of the contest participants shared his impressions.
Everyone could taste dishes of national cuisine. The place with food near the tent was one of the most crowded.

A festive concert was also organized for the guests of the festival. Despite the fact that it was raining heavily, people were in no hurry to disperse.

"We are not afraid of any rain, - explained one of the festival guests -We are together, we are one, and this is the main thing. We in our family love the Day of Culture and always come to see all this beauty. Thanks to everyone very much who makes such a holiday for us."

An Abkhazian singer Madina Kvaratskhelia came to the concert to perform a song  "Ashkhakua". She congratulated all spectators on the holiday, wishing peace and prosperity to the people of Abaza.

"It was a great honor for me to participate in this celebration. I experienced many positive emotions. Many thanks to the audience who received me so warmly. I hope, I will definitely come back here," said the singer.

Amina Lazba, head of the WAC information portal, shared her impressions.

"This is the first time that I take part in this event outside of Abkhazia. It is especially gratifying to spend this day among our brothers and sisters from Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Turkey. Our flag is not just a symbol of statehood, it is a symbol of our victory, a symbol of continuity of generations and it reflects the history of our people. We are obliged to remember at what cost our statehood has been achieved, and to ensure that our compatriots around the world fully feel their involvement in the life of the people and their history," Lazba said.

Solemn events dedicated to the celebration of the Flag Day of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Day of Culture of the people of Abaza, completed the festive firework.

The modern state flag of the Republic of Abkhazia was approved by the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia on July 23, 1992 in the town of Akua (Sukhum) after the decision to terminate the Constitution of the Abkhaz ASSR of 1978 and the restoration of the SSR Constitution of Abkhazia of 1925. Since 2005, the Day of the National Flag of the Republic of Abkhazia has officially been celebrated as a holiday on July 23.
