The idea of creating a WAC project aimed at military-patriotic education of the younger generation and expanding knowledge in the field of military specialties came even earlier, during a series of meetings in 2023. These included a meeting with the commander of the Donbass Wild Division (IB “Pyatnashka”) Akhra Avidzba, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the republic. This year a new project was launched for the first time.
A pilot trip within the framework of the project on basic military training was organized for high school students of V. Pachalia Pakuash Secondary School No. 1.

First of all, the guys visited the “Abkhazian Shooting Club”. There they received theoretical instruction on safety precautions when handling weapons. As part of fire training with an instructor, schoolchildren learned to stand, aim, hold a weapon and shoot correctly.

Director for Promotion of the “Abkhazian Shooting Club” Denis Solomko emphasized the importance of conducting such classes with high school students:

“The traditions of owning weapons and the desire to hunt are honored in Abkhazia. I believe that these traditions should be supported by modern rules for handling weapons and regulated by law. That is, teaching a young man to shoot a pistol or a carbine is not yet patriotic education. However, by filling these actions with meaning and content, you can lead a young person in the right direction. Therefore, the work that the staff of the Congress has launched is very serious,” Solomko said.

According to him, in one meeting it is impossible to turn children who are holding a weapon in their hands for the first time in their lives into specialists, but it is definitely possible to instill an understanding of what you need to know and be able to do to comply with safety standards.

After the shooting club, the schoolchildren went to a military tank unit. They were given a tour that ended with a trip on a tank. A student of the Pakuash school, Damey Kvarchia, shared his impressions:

“Today we received many unforgettable emotions and learned a lot of new things. All the guys got into the tank and we were able to ride it. This is an invaluable experience for all of us. Thanks to all those who organized the trip!” the student thanked.

Dmitry Zhiba, head of the WAC department for work with local representative offices, told about the objectives of the new project:

“All this is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Abkhazia and the “Abkhazian Shooting Club”, for which we thank them! I hope that the project will receive good reviews and will be loved by its participants,” said Dmitry Zhiba.

He said that the project is designed for those teenagers whose school curriculum already includes the subject of basic military training.

“This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to devote themselves to military professions to understand what military science is,” Zhiba said.

The organizers plan to hold five more such trips.
