The IX Scientific Conference "Radlov Readings" was held at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.
The annual scientific conference "Radlov Readings" was held at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (MAE) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg from January 30 to 31. As part of the conference, the section "Indigenous Peoples of Russia: Ethnocultural Projections" was opened, at which four researchers made presentations on the Abkhazians and Abaza.
Leading researcher of the Department of Ethnography of the Caucasus in the Kunstkamera, Doctor of Historical Sciences Makka Albogachieva and KBGU RAS postgraduate student, head of the International Association for the Promotion of the Development of the Abaza-Abkhaz Ethnos "Alashara" Murat Mukov presented the report "Games of the Abaza people: history and modernity." The researchers told how the folk games of the Abkhazians and Abaza reveal the national character, culture, way of life and working conditions. They noted the popularity and practical significance of the "Games of the Abaza people", held annually in Karachay-Cherkessia as part of the cultural and sports festival "Abaza".
Report of the head of the Department for work with foreign students and SPbGLTU teacher Madina Ekzekova "Linguistic and historical analysis of the religious beliefs of the Abaza: religious identity in the context of glocalization" was devoted to a comprehensive study of the influence of the processes of globality and locality (glocalization) on the religious beliefs of the Abaza. The author of the report concludes that the religious identity of the Abaza was formed under the influence of both global and local processes. Based on a linguo-historical analysis of individual expressions in the Abaza language, Madina Ekzekova tells what a significant role language plays in interpreting the characteristics of the culture and history of the people.
Tamara Ayba, junior researcher at the Laboratory of Museum Technologies of the MAE RAS, in her report "Abkhaz-Abaza cultural centers in Turkey and the Middle East" spoke about the history of the emergence of Abkhaz-Abaza cultural centers. The report of the researcher also considered the work of the World Abaza Congress and its representative office in Turkey and the Middle East.
Chairman of the Supreme Council of the World Abaza Congress, President of the International Association for the Promotion of the Development of the Abaza-Abkhaz Ethnos "Alashara" Mussa Ekzekov expressed gratitude to the Head of the Kunstkamera Andrey Golovnev for organizing such conferences and scientific interest in the topic of indigenous peoples of Russia.
"Radlov Readings" is an annual scientific conference, the work of which is divided into seven sections: Indigenous peoples of Russia: ethnocultural projections; Changing materiality: techniques, technologies, innovations; Traditional holidays as markers of ethno-cultural identity; Ethnocultural interaction as a key vector in the development of the world of Islam; From thread to spear and lute.
