Mussa Ekzekov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Supreme Council of the WAC, summed up the results of the VIII Convention of the World Abaza Congress, which was held for two days - December 7 and 8 - in Sukhum.

In total, the VIII Convention of the World Abaza Congress gathered in the capital of Abkhazia about 130 delegates from Turkey, Holland, Germany, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol Region, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Abkhazia.

The Convention solemnly opened the day before, on December 7. The opening ceremony was attended by the first persons of Abkhazia, well-known public and political figures, representatives of professional communities and various social groups. In 2022, the Convention coincided with the anniversary date of the organization - the 30th anniversary of its foundation, the Chairman of the WAC Supreme Council and the Congress team received numerous congratulations.

The work of the Convention on December 8 consisted of two main parts: a working meeting for the selection of the Chairman of the WAC Supreme Council, members of the Supreme Council of the organization, resolution of organizational and other issues - and round tables, discussions on the most relevant topics included in the circle of the main activities of the Congress.

At the end of the VIII Convention of the WAC, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the organization, Mussa Ekzekov, invited those responsible for the round tables to announce the results of the work of the sections. Rustam Zantaria, moderator of the round table on youth policy, sport and ecology, Izolda Khagba, curator of the "Native Language" section, and Ekaterina Bebia, curator of the "Apsuara" round table, presented prepared resolutions to the participants of the Congress, which will be sent to the UN, UNESCO and UNICEF.

Mussa Ekzekov, Chairman of the Supreme Council, thanked the speakers and also expressed gratitude to everyone who came to the VIII Convention of the WAC. He noted the success of the five-year work of the Congress team and expressed confidence that the number of interesting and effective projects, including those at the international level, would increase.

"The Convention is a great holiday for us, it is a celebration of the brotherhood and solidarity of our people. At the same time, it was important for us to show you how our team actually translates into reality the program for the preservation and development of the Abaza people," explained the head of the WAC SC.

As a result, the results of the five-year fruitful work of the Congress were summed up, plans for the future were outlined, resolutions and appeals to international organizations were adopted, Ekzekov summed up, noting that the "unity of spirit of the Abaza people" was once again reflected in the resolution of all issues.

"I want to thank each of you who were able to come, thank you for your helpful opinions and good wishes. It is the indifference of each of us that helps us to preserve our native language, culture and traditions," Mussa Ekzekov concluded.

The Convention of the World Abaza Congress on December 7 and 8, 2022 in Sukhum became the eighth convention of the organization. Mussa Ekzekov was re-elected to the post of Chairman of the Supreme Council of the WAC. At the Congress, a new composition of the Supreme Council was approved, changes were made to the Charter of the WAC, and several partnership agreements were signed. The events dedicated to the VIII Convention will continue until December 11 in both official and unofficial formats.

Conventions of the World Abaza Congress are traditionally held every 5 years. Representatives of the Abaza people from all over the world gather to sum up the work of the organization, elect the Chairman and members of the Supreme Council. In addition, within the framework of the Convention, a program of future initiatives is determined and the general direction of the organization's activities is approved.
