Chairman of the Supreme Council of the World Abaza Congress, Mussa Ekzekov, allocated 15 thousand dollars for the construction of the building of the Abkhaz Cultural Center in the Turkish city of Sakarya. The Executive Secretary of the Congress, Inar Gitsba, informed the WAC Web Information Portal on this.
He said that such a decision was made after the meeting of the leaders of the WAC and the Abkhaz Cultural Center already operating in the city.
The center in Sakarya unites more than 3,000 representatives of the Abaza people; its leadership sets itself the task of increasing the snumber of members to 5,000 in the near future. The center teaches the Abkhaz, holds cultural events, actively works the women's council, which, in particular, is engaged in the manufacture of national jewelery and the preservation of traditional Abkhaz handicraft.
«Within the framework of the meeting, a dialogue with the public took place, and a project for the construction of the building was presented,» Gitsba explained.
The head of the center Oral Kobash (Bganba) said that the center had previously appealed to the administration of the city of Sakarya with a request for the allocation of land. The request was granted, and now it is necessary to raise funds for the construction. According to the project, all they need is 160 thousand dollars. Anyone can donate funds to the center construction fund.
The Abkhaz Cultural Center in Sakarya is one of the 14 centers of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers in Turkey. The main work of the Federation and the centers is aimed at preserving ethnocultural values.
