Sukhum, Republic of Abkhazia

The World Abaza Congress celebrates its 31st anniversary today.

On the occasion of the holiday, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the WAC Mussa Ekzekov made an address:

“Our organization began its activities in a difficult period for Abkhazia, at the very height of the Georgian-Abkhazian war. Then the WAC was called a little differently - the International Association of the Abkhaz-Abaza People. However, the goals and objectives have not changed since then. Day after day we work to unite representatives of the Abaza people around the world.
More than three decades of painstaking work have paid off. We have implemented many projects aimed at strengthening society and its development through preserving the language, studying the history and customs of our people.
In addition, our activities are aimed at creating favorable conditions for the return of compatriots from abroad. Thanks to the work of the Congress, Abkhazians and Abaza in all parts of the globe can study their language and history, get acquainted with traditions and culture, and find like-minded people. Our unity and knowledge of our roots is the driving force that leads us along the path of prosperity.
We will continue to work with younger generations and compatriots around the world. We will do everything to preserve and pass on the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors, we will spread their heritage wherever representatives of the Abaza people live today. We confidently follow this way and invite everyone to join us in creating a world based on national traditions and culture.”
