Four cases of coronavirus infection revealed in Abkhazia over the past day. 

Four more cases of COVID-19 were detected in Abkhazia on May 8.  This was announced by the Operational Headquarters for the protection of the population from coronavirus infection.

The report said that over the past day, 33 people have been tested for coronavirus.  In four of them, the diagnosis was confirmed.

Citizens returning to Abkhazia from abroad continue to undergo compulsory quarantine.

“To date, 209 citizens who have returned from abroad are quarantined at the Aitar Hotel in Sukhum,” reported Operational HQ.

The state of emergency introduced in Abkhazia at the end of March lasted until April 20, after which it was not extended by decision of the authorities.  At the same time, the authorities urge the country's population to continue to observe self-isolation measures.

It was also decided to abolish the curfew in the Gagra and Gal districts. Central markets have resumed their work in all towns of Abkhazia, they will be open three days a week. Schools, kindergartens and the university remain closed.
