A member of the Operational Headquarters to fight coronavirus infection at the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia, an oncologist Batal Katsiya addressed the population of the Republic.

If a person returned from a country where a coronavirus was found, his body temperature is 38.5 degrees, and he has severe shortness of breath, then these facts may be the basis for his hospitalization in medical institutions with suspected coronavirus infection. This was stated in the address to the people of Abkhazia of the member of the Operational Headquarters to fight coronavirus infection, an oncologist Batal Katsiya.

Katsiya noted that in the case of these signs, a person should, first of all, isolate himself as much as possible, then contact an ambulance or call the hot line of the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia at 0303.

“If you are over 65 years old and you have chronic diseases such as chronic diabetes mellitus, heart failure etc., that is, diseases that can complicate the disease and you have symptoms of the virus, then you are also a potential patient for hospitalization ”, said Katsiya.

A member of the OH separately addressed people who violate the regime of self-isolation.

“You endanger not only your health and your life, but also the life and health of the people around you,” he stressed.

Batal Katsiya noted that medical teams are currently being formed in Abkhazia that will carry out visits and conduct testing for coronavirus if necessary.

Since the country's leadership took measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in Abkhazia, the country's population is daily informed by the Deputy Head of the Medical Operations Headquarters, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Abkhazia Alkhas Kondzharia.

According to the latest data over the past 24 hours as of April 5, 2020, five people underwent laboratory diagnostics for the detection of coronavirus infection.

“In no patient has coronavirus been detected,” said Kondzharia.

He added that more than 100 calls have been processed in a single coronavirus call center over the past 24 hours.

“To date, the coronavirus has not been detected in Abkhazia, but, despite this, it is necessary to continue to observe the state of emergency,” the deputy head of the headquarters again called on.  - We understand that being in isolation is quite difficult.  Unfortunately, we are receiving information that some people violate the state of emergency introduced.  We want to assure you that all necessary measures are being taken, but all of them will be ineffective if each of you does not comply with security measures.”

Since March 24, 2020, the leadership of Abkhazia has taken a set of measures to protect the population of Abkhazia from the coronavirus infection COVID-19 - in particular, mass events were discontinued, educational institutions were disbanded, government agencies were restricted, retail outlets were closed, with the exception of food and essential goods, and  also pharmacies,  movement of citizens was limited, a number of other measures have been taken.

Since March 28, a state of emergency has been introduced in the Republic: the Abkhaz-Russian border has been temporarily closed for crossing, with the exception of military personnel and diplomats, control over crossing the state border has been strengthened for citizens of Abkhazia returning to the Republic.

The charity movement “We are Together” and representatives of the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora, newly created by Abkhaz entrepreneurs, announced a fundraiser to help Abkhazia fight the new disease and protect the population of Abkhazia.  To date, nearly 50 million rubles have been raised.
